Weddings

I
had the pleasure of photographing Katie & Kyles's engagement session where they rolled up with nips of fireball in their pockets, so I was HIGHLY ANTICIPATING this wedding, especially since they had to reschedule due to a certain global pandemic. Ahem. I was also lucky enough to photograph their micro-wedding, which took place on their original date a year earlier and included only their closest friends and family. Fast forward a year, and once the restrictions were lifted they could finally have the big epic blowout party they deserved! Katie got ready at The Groton Inn with champagne toasts and matching robes for the ladies. Her room had a fantastic balcony that allowed me to capture a few stunning natural light portraits and silhouettes against the door which I loved! Katie's dress was designed by Pronovias and I couldn't picture her in any other dress. Seriously, it just suited her so perfectly! We had their first look on the porch of the Inn before heading over to The Barn at Gibbet Hill. They had a perfect summer day, and as soon as we arrived at the venue we walked up the gravel path behind the barn to take portraits with the hill in the background. I love photographing up that path because you can capture a huge visual variety, taking portraits with greenery in the background or more rural (we'll call it "farm-chic") style images using the barn and greenhouses as a backdrop. I also feel like Gibbet does a great job of making the laid back, rustic feel of the venue simultaneously feel fancy and formal. This combination isn't easy, but they have it figured out to the point where a black tie wedding feels totally at home here. Katie & Kyle had their ceremony outside on the lawn and it was officiated by Kyle's uncle, which was such a nice, personal touch. Their cocktail hour took place on the patio and I love photographing in this space since the natural light and casual atmosphere makes it super easy to walk around and capture photos of guests casually laughing and smiling. The first dance, toasts, and dinner were all served inside with farm tables decorated by Les Fleurs. After dinner, guests moved back outside to the patio to dance their faces off and give Katie & Kyle a proper sendoff into married life. A huge thank you to Katie and Kyle for including me in ALL of their weddings, and and to my friend and associate photographer Halie Child for bringing her A game!
