y favorite weddings to photograph are the personal ones, where the bride and groom work hard to create an event which not only makes their guests feel right at home, but also reflects their own interests and personalities. Emery & Jared's wedding took place on their family farm in Westport MA, this past weekend, and there were so many great details about this day that I don't even know where to begin! We started out taking "first look" photos with Emery, Jared and their dog, and wandered all around the property taking advantage of the many gorgeous backdrops and textures the farm had to offer. Wooden barns, rustic doorways, dirt roads and old fences all made an appearance and offered us a huge variety of backdrops to choose from. The ceremony took place on the lawn and was performed by a close friend of Emery's mother. Before the wedding day, a few special guests were asked to write a short note to Emery and Jared expressing words of advice or encouragement. These letters, along with a bottle of their favorite wine were then nailed shut into a wooden box during the ceremony, only to be opened and enjoyed many years from now on a special occasion. Jared is a Sommelier in Boston as well as a total foodie, so he hand selected all of his favorite beers and wines for the bar. Smoke & Pickles catering put together an incredible station of charcuterie and fine cheeses, and the family canoe was placed on the lawn and filled with fresh oysters and cherrystones! For dinner, guests dined family style on the biggest paella I have ever seen, complete with lobster tails and steamers. Emery spearheaded the decor, and she could not have done a more amazing job. Asian lanterns hung from trees all around the property and hand-painted wooden signs helped guests keep their bearings around the farm. Under the tent, Emery used a combination of square and rectangular tables with a dark, natural wood finish, as well as natural wood chiavari chairs and varying white-washed chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. Toni Chandler Floral Design put together centerpieces of purple lilac and green succulents which perfectly complimented the natural / chic theme. The Portrait Lounge, complete with vintage cameras and classy props was setup on the lawn all evening for guests to enjoy and get creative! With so many important details, I was also very grateful to have Lindsay Flanagan as my talented associate photographer to help me capture it all! Emery and Jared - Thank you so much for having me there to capture your special day. I wish you both many long years of love and happiness!
